Enhancing Biodiversity and Human Well-being:
Education and Green Infrastructure at VMU Campus (BeWell)
ᴇNᴀBʟS’ Lithuanian Living Lab (LL), coordinated by the Vytautas Magnus University, focuses on biodiversity restoration and the promotion of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) for climate change adaptation, soil protection, and community engagement. It integrates NBS into the university's curricula and extracurricular activities, providing hands-on learning opportunities for students. Additionally, it fosters nature-based thinking through public workshops and vocational education programmes, bridging academia and community practices.
Mainly held at the VMU Agriculture Academy (AA) campus, the Lithuanian LL brings together university students and faculty members, local schools, community groups, environmental organisations, municipal authorities, and local businesses to engage in various types of activities (e.g. workshops, seminars, citizen science projects, educational trails, biodiversity and soil experiments, community events).

Contribution to ᴇNᴀBʟS and expected impact

The Lithuanian LL aims to strengthen the role of higher education in mainstreaming NBS, creating pertinent curricula, and providing practical examples of NBS integration. Its overall goal is to increase biodiversity, improve soil health, enhance community awareness and engagement, and provide better educational resources for NBS.
