ᴇNᴀBʟS’ Czech Living Lab connects science, practice, and community engagement through the power of pollinators

The ᴇNᴀBʟS project, through its Czech Living Lab, participated in the traditional spring beekeeping fair Včela!!! in Ostrava, held on 6-7 March 2026, engaging with experts, practitioners, and the wider public on the importance of pollinators.

A key highlight of the event was the focus on bumblebees, presented by experts from Zemědělský výzkum (Troubsko). Visitors explored how these highly efficient pollinators contribute to biodiversity, agricultural productivity, and ecosystem resilience, both in rural and urban environments.

Within this context, ᴇNᴀBʟS’ Living Lab introduced how Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) can support environmental sustainability by working with natural processes. The activity demonstrated how scientific knowledge, practical applications, and education can be effectively combined to raise awareness and support informed dialogue.

The event also included a lecture on how individuals and communities can support bumblebees through simple actions, such as planting suitable vegetation and creating habitats—showing how local engagement can contribute to broader environmental benefits. Through its presence at Včela!!!, the Czech Living Lab reinforced ᴇNᴀBʟS’ role in connecting science, practice, and community engagement, while promoting accessible and evidence-based approaches to biodiversity and sustainability.
