ᴇNᴀBʟS’ Czech Living Lab Inspires Young Minds Through Biodiversity Education at Fascination of Plants Day

The Czech Living Lab of the eNaBlS project recently participated in the international Fascination of Plants Day event in Troubsko, Czech Republic, contributing to environmental education and biodiversity awareness among younger generations.

The event welcomed nearly 700 pupils from primary and lower secondary schools, offering a unique opportunity to engage children and teenagers with topics related to plants, ecosystems, soil health, pollinators, and sustainable environmental management. While visitors explored a wide range of scientific and agricultural activities, the Czech Living Lab focused on introducing the principles of biodiversity conservation and Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) through interactive educational materials and direct discussions with participants.

As part of its outreach activities, the Living Lab presented eNaBlS and its mission to support biodiversity restoration through education, stakeholder engagement, and collaborative learning. Students were encouraged to explore how healthy ecosystems contribute to climate resilience, support pollinators, and provide essential services for both nature and society.

The participation of the Czech Living Lab demonstrated the importance of bringing research and innovation closer to local communities. By engaging young people in conversations about biodiversity and environmental stewardship, the activity contributed to one of the core objectives of eNaBlS: increasing awareness and understanding of NBS as practical tools for addressing environmental challenges.

Throughout the day, students showed strong interest in the educational materials and actively interacted with the Living Lab activities, reflecting a growing curiosity about nature conservation and sustainable development. The event also provided an opportunity to connect with teachers, local stakeholders, and other organisations involved in environmental education and biodiversity-related initiatives.

By participating in public outreach events such as Fascination of Plants Day, the Czech Living Lab continues to strengthen the link between science, education, and society, helping to build the knowledge and skills needed to support biodiversity conservation and the wider uptake of NBS across future generations.
