Morning coffee with an NBS theme at the University of Eastern Finland

The Centre for Continuous Learning at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF) organises monthly #SmartForGoodLIVE-morning coffees with different themes. On Thursday 14 November 2024, the theme is: “Nature-based solutions – what are they?”

At the coffee table the speakers from UEF ᴇNᴀBʟS team, i.e. Professor Elina Oksanen, University Teacher Oskari Ylikoski, Olivia Ollikainen, Project Coordinator for the Department of Environmental and Biological Sciences, and Continuous Learning Specialist Tiina Ynnilä from the Center for Continuous Learning are leading the discussion and introducing their work around Nature-Based Solutions (NBS). The chat is open to the participants to join the discussion.

The morning coffee event will discuss what Nature-Based Solutions are, what examples of Nature-Based Solutions there are in Finland and especially in Eastern Finland, and how they are visible in research and education at the University of Eastern Finland. Examples of what kind of Nature-Based Solutions companies can promote in their business and what kinds of Nature-Based Solutions individuals can make in their everyday lives will be heard. Finally, the new “Nature-Based Solutions” course will be presented which is in preparation and about UEF’s existing biodiversity related courses. The event will be online and held in Finnish.
