The ᴇNᴀBʟS project, dedicated to fostering Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and promoting biodiversity education, has seen some incredibly productive and impactful few months. With Living Labs established, new web resources launched, and significant advancements in NBS education, the project continues to drive innovative approaches to fostering awareness, education, and action around NBS and biodiversity.
Living Labs Established and Web Pages Launched
ᴇNᴀBʟS’ network of Living Labs has been successfully established across Europe, serving as interactive hubs where scientists, students, and the public can engage with real-world biodiversity challenges. These labs are designed to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing between different stakeholders, including local communities, researchers, and policymakers. Alongside this, dedicated web pages for each Living Lab have been launched on the ᴇNᴀBʟS website, offering up-to-date information on ongoing activities and events, fostering greater engagement and knowledge sharing.

NBS: New Online Course Available to All
The University of Eastern Finland, a partner in the ᴇNᴀBʟS project, has created an online multidisciplinary course and is piloting it in spring 2025 with its degree students. Focusing on the northern environment, the course offers basic knowledge about NBS and approaches the theme from a problem-oriented point of view, using multiple real-life examples in Finland, illustrated by several videos and pictures. This valuable resource will be made available to all lifelong learners through the Open University of the UEF Center for Continuous Learning. An Open Access version of the course has also been created, providing free access without the need for an enrolment key. This course is a significant contribution to ᴇNᴀBʟS’ educational goals.
ᴇNᴀBʟS at NBS EduWORLD Education Summit
ᴇNᴀBʟS also actively participated in the NBS Education Summit, which brought together thought leaders, educators, and stakeholders from around the world to explore the integration of NBS into education and professional training. ᴇNᴀBʟS showcased its approach to biodiversity education and its work on mapping awareness, perceptions and education on biodiversity and NBS in Europe. The summit was an exciting opportunity for ᴇNᴀBʟS to engage with a global community of educators and practitioners and underscore its commitment to advancing NBS education.
The ᴇNᴀBʟS project continues to work towards its goal of creating a more sustainable and biodiverse future through collaborative research, education, and innovation.
